If lunch matters, pay for a food-and-wine day rather than a tasting with a plate. The featured $208 tour is the fullest meal; the Etna urban winery Sicilian lunch in Catania at $73 is the cheapest three-course lunch with four Etna wines, and it needs no transport. A “tasting with food” on any listing means cheese, olives and bread, not a meal.
Private

Know before you book
Most “Etna wine tours” are volcano days with a winery lunch, not wine days. If the listing mentions craters, a cave or the Alcantara gorge, the tasting is one stop among several. The tour titles blur this, and it is the single most common mismatch in the reviews.
Tastings are appointments. Cellar-door listings run at fixed times with a host, and several ask for a day or two of notice.
Check the price basis. Most tours are per person, a few are per vehicle; the difference decides whether a private day is a splurge or a bargain.
